Environmental Governance Reviews (EGR)
are rooted in the methodology of
Environmental Performance Reviews (EPR).
An Environmental Governance Review examines how well a country is balancing its environmental goals with economic development and how effectively it is meeting its international environmental obligations. EGRs support countries and other entities in strengthening environmental governance and improving overall environmental performance.
EGRs encourage the exchange of policy experiences between countries, promotes the integration of environmental considerations into economic sectors, enhances transparency and public accountability, fosters international cooperation, and supports the achievement and tracking of relevant Sustainable Development Goals.
The typical steps in an EGR process
Preparatory mission

Plenary meetings with Government institutions, NGOs and international organizations
